How to Select the Right Stage Electric Hoist
In professional stage rigging systems, D8, D8+ and C1 do not refer to load capacity degree; instead, they represent distinct safety degree. The core difference among the three lies in their brake safety designs and whether they are permitted to operate over personnel.
The selection of a suitable electric hoist shall be based on actual application scenarios rather than load weight alone.
D8 – Installation & Temporary Lifting
Fitted with a single braking system, D8 electric hoists are primarily intended for equipment installation, stage erection and temporary hoisting. Once the load is positioned, it must be secured with separate safety fittings such as safety steel cables or mechanical locks. This model is not suitable for permanent suspension or operation above people.
Typical applications:
D8+ – Long-Term Static Suspension
Equipped with two independent braking systems, D8+ meets safety standards for long-term static suspension. Though capable of bearing loads continuously, it is not engineered for dynamic lifting and lowering during live performances.
Typical applications:
C1 – Dynamic Operation for Live Shows
C1 is the dynamic safety class designated for professional live stage performances, certified for safe operation over occupied areas. Featuring redundant dual brakes, it delivers a higher safety factor and superior dynamic control, ideal for frequent lifting, lowering and motion manipulation during shows.

Choosing the correct safety grade bears relevance not only to equipment performance but also directly determines the safety and operational reliability of the entire stage rigging system.
